The tower though is only the bell-tower to a Cathedral which usurped four hundred years to build The Pitti Palace homes significant collections of paintings and sculpture, artworks, porcelain, silver and period costumes. Bargello is principally a sculpture museum. Housing early Michelangelo marbles and Giambologna bronzes and famous works by Donatello. Siena’s Gothic cathedral is completely full of treasures including a marble pavement, Piccolomini library frescoes and surprisingly luxurious interiors.
