With 3,000 hours of sun a year, Fuerteventura is the nearest Canary Island to the African coast with only 100km separating the ‘Punta de la Entallada ‘ from Cape Juby in Morroco and is the 2nd biggest of all the islands. The climate conditions of Fuerteventura are very like Florida and Mexico which are on the same latitude, which make this the best vacation location.
There’s nowhere else in the Canaries with as many huge sand dunes and long wonderful beaches ( more than a hundred and 50 ). Although almost all of the land is composed of stone and rock, these are some examples of the most provoking beaches in all of Europe. Approx 98km long and 30km across at the widest point. In the history of time Fuerteventura is usually regarded as the oldest of all of the Canaries and its strange contours come from diverse volcanic episodes. The last eruption took place around seven thousand years back so you are pretty safe.

Should you would like to see some volcanic activity make a journey to the neighboring island of Lanzarote, it’s definitely worth it. See our Ferry page for details regarding how to get there. You may take a short ship trip over to the tiny island of Los Lobos ( only 6sqkm ) and actually escape from it all.
There are lots of new attractions inviting travellers to find out different facets of the Island’s landscape and culture eg the Betancuria Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography and Tefia Craft Town to name only
